Looking stunning, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, at one of many inaugural balls in our Capital tonight. Michelle is wearing a one shoulder, cream colored, evening gown with hand embroidered florets and stones delicately scattered throughout. The designer is Jason Wu, a young and relatively new Taiwanese American designer. The first couple danced their first dance to Etta James’s “At Last” performed by Beyonce. We think Michelle made a fantastic choice and look forward to welcoming fashion back to the White House.

It’s official, Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States! President Obama was sworn in today with the First Lady Michelle Obama by his side. So we finally got to see the inaugural fashion decision Michelle Obama made. Michelle is wearing a dress and coat by designer Isabel Toledo. Toledo is a Cuban-American designer, who has had her own label for 20 years and at one time was creative director at Anne Klein. Isabel Toledo attended both FIT and Parsons and is a New York City resident. And, those shoes? Well, Jimmy Choo of course. We love this choice; it is beautiful, appropriate, yet not boring or typical at all. The color was risky but we think it works for her and the contrasting shoes and gloves keep it looking young. For those who criticize it as too formal, we have to say, if you can’t dress up when your husband becomes the President of the United States then, when can you?

Thanks, great pictures. I for one thought she picked wonderfully. The gown was a bit bridal but I agree it worked!
