Eco Fashion Events

All things “Green” have become more than just a trend, but a core value in the fashion industry.  There are countless ways to participate in eco fashion both as a consumer and as a fashion industry professional.  We thought we’d share a few green events with you and encourage you to participate if possible.

• Are you interested in eco design?  Are you a hand bag designer?  Or would you like to be?  On June 17^th in NYC, designers can participate in the Independent Handbag Designer Awards.  Take your green design and turn it into a stylish handbag and you could win a chance to work with a top environmental brand to produce your design.  There are several other awards as well, including most socially responsible handbag.  The event will be held at the New York Historical Society, good luck!   
• For those of you on the west coast, Portland is hosting the, Energy Trust Better Living Show.  There are several events scheduled over the weekend including sustainable fashion product sales, eco fashion shows, and green beauty demonstrations.  The event runs from March 27^th to the 29^th at the Portland Expo Center.
• For our local shopaholics with a conscience, check out the spring Swap-O-Rama.  This Queens event is brought to you by Triple R events whose motto is “Reduce Reuse, Recycle.”  The concept is simple; do some spring cleaning and bring your clothes to the Arrow Community Center in Astoria to swap with fellow refashionistas.  Happy Shopping!
