Fab Fabric Resources

For any label, big or small, men’s or women’s, a crucial component is fabrication.  For a designer choosing a fabric is an important step in determining the look, feel, category, and price point of your garment.  On occasion bulk yardage may even be ordered and dyed before a design is even conceptualized.  For many of us with fabric libraries in our company’s closets, boxes of headers next to our desks, and garmentos constantly showing up unannounced with suitcases full of their latest swatches, fabric is a no-brainer.  Some of us even have entire fabric sourcing departments to find the latest and greatest fabrications.  With that in mind, it never hurts to go back to the basics and take a different approach to fabric sourcing.

So today we’d like to recommend one online resource for you, THE COTTONWORKS® Global Fabric Library Directory.  While there are many online directories this one is particularly thorough and straight forward.  If you are looking to source any kind of %100 cotton or cotton-rich fabric this is an excellent resource.  Not only does it provide you with the mills, knitters, etc’s… contact information, but also many of these companies have a NYC fabric library you can visit.  We also found extensive listings for denim mills, as well as, organic cotton resources.   We recognized several fabric suppliers which we have used for large scale production in Target and Macy’s, as well as, small runs for indie labels.  So while we all have a million and ten ways to source fabric give this site a try because going back to basics can be refreshing.
