Fashion Scoop for You

—Isaac Mizrahi the multi-talented designer has signed a new deal with QVC.  If you haven’t got enough of him on Bravo’s Fashion Show, look out for his new show called, Isaac Mizrahi Live.  Isaac will be pitching everything from cheesecakes to handbags, as well as, discussing his personal life and interacting with live callers.  Oye vey! 

—The French seem to be moving ever closer to finalizing their ban on burqas.  According to French president Nicholas Sarkozy, the garment is a sign of subservience and debasement and is not welcome in France.  Despite what we may think of burqas, enforcing a legal dress code is astounding.  Then again after seeing Lady Gaga’s homage to the burqa, maybe some fashions are a crime. 

—Rather unbelievably the Olsen Twins have been inducted to the Counsel of Fashion Designers of America.  They will receive this honor here in NYC in October from CFDA President Dianne Von Furstenberg.  Who’s next, Uncle Jesse?

—The fashion rumor mill is buzzing about Forever 21’s latest venture.  After launching a plus size line and revealing plans for beauty and home divisions they’re at it again.  It appears they may be launching a F21 magazine.  Rather surprising news considering how bad publishing is hurting in this recession.  But then again, it’s Forever 21, so perhaps they’ll just photocopy Seventeen Magazine and sell it for 50¢.

—Well, here’s another one, celeb fashion line that is.  They seem to spread like a bad case of herpes and we just can’t get rid of them.  Emma Watson has just announced that she will be launching her own fashion line shortly.  Who you say?  Why Hermione from Harry Potter.  Because when you think fashion you think British teenage wizards of course.

   A dress code enforced by law sounds like a scary start. I have never understood why people get so bothered by burqas to be honest, provided the person is wearing it by choice of course. And no idea what the Olsens are doing in the CFDA!!
