Fashion’s Old Dirty Bastard

Yes we have our own, unlike the music industry’s ODB ours is a 39 year old Jewish-Canadian apparel company CEO who operates out of Los Angeles.  As you probably guessed we’re talking about Dov Charney, the founder of American Apparel.  American Apparel is known for its fab cotton jersey basics, sexy ad campaigns, and the fact that it’s American manufactured.  Now, Dov Charney is known for being the creative and business mastermind behind the $500M company, as well as, being a dirty dirty boy.  Charney has already been the subject of 5 sexual harassment lawsuits, criticized for the sexual Polaroid photo campaign of under-aged girls, and the controversial Jane magazine article describing inner office sexual exchanges.

The over sexed CEO is again facing a lawsuit by a former employee.  Roberto Hernandez has accused Charney of cooking the company books and participating in an accounting scheme.  Allegedly, Charney instructed him to pad the inventory so that American Apparel would pass an audit.  The lawsuit would not be complete without accusing Charney of his usual ODB behavior.  According to the New York Post, “The CEO paraded in the workplace in his underwear, conducted business meetings at his home completely naked, and forced Hernandez to engage in work discussions with him while he showered.”  Keep in mind, next time you’re out shopping at American Apparel you are not only supporting domestic apparel production, but also one hell of a dirty bastard.
