— Emaciated high fashion models are nothing new in the industry. Recently the folks in charge of Brazil’s fashion week have publicly voiced their concerns and intent to increase their already structured health requirements for models. Interesting, they blamed the US and Europe for hindering their attempts by encouraging the gaunt aesthetic and embracing models that are refused by Brazil.

— Temperley’s famous winter sale is going on now. Don’t miss a chance to snag some seriously discounted (75% off)  designer dresses and separates. At 453 Broome Street by Mercer until 1/31 this is one sale not to miss!

— Thinking about buying a knock-off designer bag down on Canal street? Not only does that hurt the sales of the legit and struggling apparel industry but it supports sweatshop laborers who make these cheapo bags. Well apparently, the city has decided to crack down on the crowded Canal street vendors and raided the street shutting down 16 illegal shops in the process last week.

— What is a nice Jewish boy doing designing swastika handbags? That’s the questions we’d like to ask Marc Jacobs.  So who would pay $1495 for some designer Nazi swag?

— Zac Posen is the next big designer doing a diffusion line for Target. While the goods won’t be available until April, the Look Book is out now. So take a peak, here.

its not the nazi swastika, this one is going counterclockwise. it’s used on temples and such in places such as Korea, Taiwan, etc.

Will we ever see models that are healthy, or is that too much to ask?

As for MJ that is way to close to a swastika for me, glad stores stopped carrying it. Really with all the images/embroideries/logos available why would he even choose this, ridiculous!

While the design may be the “other” swastika, I agree completely with Sofia. On top of which, it is not even a particularly attractive embroidery no matter what is in the center, just looks heavy and lumpy. (THRILLED they are cleaning up Canal Street!)

As for models, even subtle steps towards a more realistic body type like in Lover’s 2010 Swim look book, is so, so refreshing. The emaciated look is not attractive at all. A size 0-2 is one thing when you are 5′ 1″ and quite another at 5′10″.

The swastika came into being before Jesus Christ was born and is a popular symbol in many Eastern countries.

I won’t let the fact that the Nazis used the swastika symbol ruin the ancientness and spiritual depth of the swastika.

Condemn the Nazis for their actions, but don’t hate the swastika.

Murderers use knives to kill, but did that stop you from appreciating the knives that cut your fruits and veggies? And knives don’t even have any spiritual depth…

I believe that Marc Jacobs was thinking of the ancient swastika when using it to decorate his bag.
