Happy Turkey Day!!

By admins | November 27, 2008

Wishing everybody a very happy Thanksgiving, better known as the one day of the year that elastic waistbands are allowed and overloading on carbs is encouraged.  For all you New Yorkers, it is also time for the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  While spending your holiday in the garment center may not be your idea of a day off, it will get you a prime seat for this 84 year tradition.  If you’re gonna give it a try, bundle up and maybe sneak a hot-toddy along!  What about the big meal today?  Well, if like many New Yorkers cooking means, calling delivery, and your stove is used for sweater storage, no worries, just give Fresh Direct a call.  They have fully cooked birds, side dishes, wine, and desserts all delivered to your door or doorman! Or go out to eat like a true urbanite at one of the many NYC restaurants featuring Thanksgiving specials.

After you’ve stuffed yourself silly, get up and get your shop on.  This year’s Black Friday is crucial for our economy and our industry.  Almost all reports are predicting this year’s sales to be down by 4% to 8%.  With retailers posting record declines and several bankruptcies this last year, this holiday shopping season is make or break time for all of us.  So hit up the Black Friday sales (and Cyber Monday) to support our industry and get some wicked good deals in the process!

woo-hoo! sales up 3% compared to last year, go consumers! I had a feeling retailers were offering too many incentives, and no one wants to skimp excessively for the holidays.
