Louise – Yes, our neighborhood is a fashion “business” district not really fashion shopping or museums. Although, 38th & 39th between 7th and 8th avenue has fabric, button, and trim shops she may find interesting. For museums definitely visit the museum at FIT (27th & 7th), the Metropolitan Museum of Art has the fabulous Costume Institute inside (81st & 5th) and there is the Museum of Arts and Design (Columbus circle). Our 9 year old granddaughter is interested in fashion. She will be visiting us from Florida the week of March 23rd and wants to see the “fashion district.” Is there a fashion museum or place we can take her where she can see the fashion industry at work? As far as we can see, the “district” is a lot of buildings but we cannot find an exciting exhibit or place to show her. Can you help??

FH- That would have been a great spot, too bad! Although it’s farther down 34th you do have The Barking Dog, yummmm…

viva pancho, here i come. thanks, there’s a dearth of lunch options on 34th Street, but ktown saves us. we were pushing the idea of a restaurant in the old florsheim’s space just north of Herald Square, but no, the landlord’s putting in a freakin bank. ARGH.
