Poor Marc Jacobs

New York’s golden boy, Marc Jacobs is having a rough time of it lately. Marc Jacobs’ company has to pay New York State $1,000,000 for misuse of the 69th Regiment Armory. Jacobs had routinely used the Armory for his fashion week runway shows. Apparently he was paying tens of thousands in cash and goods on the sly in exchange for preferential bookings. “New York City is a global epicenter for fashion and cultural events, and we will not allow corruption and greed to tarnish one of our most lucrative industries,” said Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.
As if Marc did not have enough problems it seems that his love life may be on the rocks as well. Despite all the speculation last summer that Marc and boyfriend Lorenzo Martone were getting married, the couple have yet to take the leap. Marc has openly expressed his desire to marry but it seems that Lorenzo is having cold feet. Even before Prop 8 in California, Lorenzo commented that he would like more time to “get to know each other better” before making such a big commitment. Ouch! We think it’s the man-skirts that may have turned him off.
**Updated 3/19/09** Wow, what a difference a couple of months make, according to WWD.com Marc and Lorenzo have finally done it. “Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone are engaged. The designer and his ad executive boyfriend, who have been together for about a year, will go public with the news beginning Thursday, when they arrive in Brazil wearing
rings. The couple is headed to Martone’s native Sao Paolo for a fete celebrating the Marc Jacobs multibrand store there, which opened in January. They have not set a wedding date.”
