Vogue Gives A Shoutout
By admins | October 6, 2008
For once fashion magazines are acknowledging the existence of the countless workers behind the scenes who make fashion happen. The October issue of Vogue has an article, Handmades Tale, featuring workers of top couture houses. These are the people who run the “business” of fashion and never get recognized in the glossy and glamorous pages of our magazines. It is a fascinating look into the workrooms of our high fashion houses and into the lives of the tailors, pattermakers, seamstresses, and technical designers. We especially love the photos (as above) giving some recognition to all those whose work goes into producing such stunningly beautiful and technically intricate pieces. For once a Vogue article is not nauseatingly dripping with advice on which five figure handbag you must buy, or which millionaire was seen where, or whose art you must hang in your summer home and thankfully no mention of society’s latest it girl either!
