WWD Spoof
By admins | May 18, 2009

Last weekend we had a wonderful time catching up and reading back issues of WWWWD. No, that is not a typo; we are referring to the World Wide Women’s Wear Digest. Which is a hilarious e-zine spoof of Women’s Wear Daily? Basically, it’s being referred to as the “Onion” for the fashion industry. If you haven’t checked it out yet we highly recommend signing up for their newsletter here.
The newest issue released the other week was a special edition devoted to fashion’s Metropolitan Ball. With titles like, “Kate Eats!” and “Karl Dies (kind of)!” how could we not love it? One particularly amusing quote, when describing the ball was, “Emmanuelle Alt shrieked in horror before fainting on the Met steps after spotting a “terrorist” on the premises – her majesty Queen Rania of Jordan, who sported last year’s Prada turban to the event.” We also love their particularly entertaining historical timeline of the Met Ball. Some highlights include “1938 – Hugo Ferdinand Boss takes too many gift bags. WWII begins.” And “2008 – Anna Wintour wears that shell shit.” For all you DIYers you’ll particularly enjoy their look for less on how to copy Sarah Jessica Parker’s look (see picture below). So, to whoever the mystery writers are behind WWWWD we thank you for the hilarity and enjoy a good laugh, even at our expense, bravo!

Genius idea, I just wish I had thought of it. I can’t help but wonder what Anna thinks of this. Maybe I’ll start a Vogue spoof!
